Flour which is a pure, all natural, food grade
diatomaceous earth. This all natural product can be used
to eliminate external parasites on dogs or cats
including fleas or ticks.
Diatomaceous earth is a
non-toxic, safe substance made up from crushed fossils
of freshwater organisms and marine life. Crushed to a
fine powder and observed through a microscope, the
particles resemble bits of broken glass. Deadly to any
insect and completely harmless to animals, fish, fowl or
food. Most insects have a waxy outer shell covering
their bodies, diatomaceous earth scratches through this
shell causing the insect to dehydrate leading to
eventual death. For external parasites, such as fleas,
you sprinkle the powder on your pets, carpets and
bedding. Diatomaceous earth
effectively kills ants, ticks, fleas, aphids,
silverfish, cockroaches, bed bugs, carpet beetles,
slugs, snails, tomato hornworm, house flies, fruit
flies, red spider mites and earwigs.
Directions for Fleas and
External Insects:
Lightly
sprinkle on your pet and rub throughout the coat. Avoid
inhaling the powder and do not let your pet breathe it
in. Also avoid the eyes. At the same time, sprinkle the
powder over your carpets, pet bedding, areas of the yard
where your pet may go or lie on, and all other areas
that come in contact with your pet. Repeat the
application once to twice per week for at least 3 weeks.
This is especially important as only 5-15% of the flea
infestation that you see are adult fleas. The remainder
of your flea infestation is flea larvae that have not
yet hatched. Complete coverage on a repeat basis is
necessary to eliminate the fleas as they hatch.
